New app to prepare end-of-life carers
The End of Life Directions for Aged Care (ELDAC) and Flinders University have designed a new app to help home care workers to provide end-of-life and palliative care to their clients as their care needs change.
The new Home Care App provides evidence-based information and practical tips on how to confidently care for clients as their health declines and their needs change. It features six sections:
- Plans for end of life
- What should I say
- As things change
- When someone is dying
- Supporting families and carers with their grief
- Looking after yourself
Other features include a customisable learning plan, interactive self-care activity scheduler and resources to share with clients, families and other carers.
Co-designed and tested with help from home care workers and managers, the ELDAC Home Care App has been reviewed and released into the Google and Apple App Stores for free download.
Users are invited to provide feedback as part of an evaluation study and research project undertaken by the researchers in the Technology and Innovation project team.
