NSW Seniors Festival offers series of in-person events
With this year’s NSW Seniors Festival themed ‘Time to Shine’, a range of in-person events will be on offer for participants.
The Council on the Ageing (COTA) NSW said the series of events, hosted by the Sydney Mechanics’ School of Arts (SMSA), will kick off on Thursday, 6 March with a panel discussion called ‘Shining a Light on Your Future: Planning for a Fulfilling and Meaningful Retirement’.
Other morning and afternoon events include a range of inspiring talks and Q&A sessions, including ‘Shining a Light on Ageism: Uncovering Experiences and Strengths Across Generations’ and ‘Your Healthcare Journey: Simple Tips for Navigating the System’.
Special guests include the NSW Minister for Seniors Jodie Harrison, the Age Discrimination Commissioner Robert Fitzgerald AM, writer and commentator Jane Caro AM, and the CEO of Relationships Australia NSW Elisabeth Shaw.
“COTA NSW is excited to present this series of informative and empowering events,” said Chief Executive Officer Gohar Yazdabadi. “We remain committed to creating opportunities for seniors to thrive by bringing them together to engage with and learn from their peers and celebrate their shared achievements. All people, regardless of age, must feel empowered to contribute in ways that matter to them.”
All events will be held in the easily accessible SMSA’s Carmichael Theatre, Level 1/280 Pitt St, Sydney, 2000. The events will also be recorded and available to view online.
