Northern Beaches to receive new residential community

Expanding on an existing agreement with Aveo, Opal HealthCare will deliver a new residential aged care community to the Northern Beaches of Sydney.

It will transform a decommissioned aged care building and an unoccupied serviced apartment building at Bayview Gardens Retirement Living, creating a modern, co-located residential aged care community in its place.

Aveo Chief Executive Officer Tony Randello said continuation of the strategic partnership with Opal HealthCare to include Bayview Gardens will enable both village residents and residents of the local area to maintain their strong social networks and community connections.

“Keeping family and social networks together is incredibly important, regardless of your stage of life. With the number of Australians aged over 85 set to triple in the next 40 years, we are ensuring we are at the forefront of connected, care-driven community design,” he said.

The transfer of ownership of the two buildings to Opal HealthCare will allow Aveo to bring forward its plans for the renovation of the Bayview Gardens community centre, with work to begin soon.

“The announcement has been warmly welcomed by residents at Bayview Gardens. Both high-quality independent retirement living and aged care communities are in high demand across Sydney, particularly the Northern Beaches where the lifestyle is a strong drawcard,” Randello said.

Bayview Gardens is set within a peaceful, rainforest-like setting neighbouring a golf course, close to the beaches of Narrabeen and Mona Vale, local medical and retail facilities, and cafes and dining precincts.

Residents share a range of lifestyle and wellness facilities including an indoor pool, gym, community centre, restaurant and bar, billiards area, salon and library.
